Guidance officer

PublishingPageContent

The school guidance officer identifies factors that can be barriers to learning and development, and assists in planning how best to support students at school. Guidance officers may work directly with the student or with the student's teachers, support personnel, family, other specialists, or professionals from other agencies.

Referrals to the guidance officer can be made through the classroom teacher. A social justice team meets regularly to prioritise referrals and monitor the progress of students who are accessing school services.
