Plans for school year 2018 are already well and truly underway, with administrative officers taking enrolments for prep year 2018. Once again our school is expecting over thirty prep aged students from in and around Mount Morgan to join our school in 2018.
Administrative officer Letani Mackay, said she already had received numerous enquiries both over the phone and in person for the 2018 school year. She said parents wanted to ensure their child was on the list to make sure that they were part of the induction programs which occurred later in the year.
B4 learner co-ordinator and prep teacher, Tracey Rosengreen, said that she was convinced that parent and student involvement in the pre-prep program which runs at the school each Wednesday morning, ensured not only that students ‘hit the ground running’ when prep starts, but that parents and students alike felt part of the school community and knew the runnings of the school from the outset.
Prep teachers Sally Offord and Renae Stein, who have worked together as a team for well over a decade, said that the level of achievement in term one of prep had grown significantly over the past two years. They said they believed it was as a result of the adoption of the new national curriculum, the increased partnerships with parents through the B4 and HIPPY (home interaction program for parent and youngsters) programs, and the school’s focus on explicit instruction as a core teaching method.
Parents wishing to enrol for prep or to enquire about the pre-prep programs can contact the school on 4912 5333.
