Mount Morgan Central State School

Chaplain PDF Print E-mail
Chaplaincy is an initiative of the Federal and State Governments and aims to provide professional services in schools for the pastoral care of its students. School Chaplains are employed and managed through the services of Scripture Union.

At Mount Morgan Central State School we have Marie Alley as chaplain working 2 days a week. We also have her husband David Alley who is the High School chaplain visiting for half a day each week.

The basic aim of chaplaincy is to "be there for students and staff" and the basis of this is time spent with them in a variety of activities and in school life. It is to provide a listening ear for students in need and to be able to refer them to professional services as or when they are needed.

Chaplains spend their time in class, in the playground and in extra-curricular activities being with students and being involved in what is going on at the school. Chaplains also prepare and run programs for the benefit of the school community
