Chaplaincy is an initiative of the Federal and State Governments and aims to provide professional services in schools for the pastoral care of its students. School Chaplains are employed and managed through the services of Scripture Union.
The basic aim of chaplaincy is to "be there for students and staff" and the basis of this is time spent with them in a variety of activities and in school life. It is to provide a listening ear for students in need and to be able to refer them to professional services as or when they are needed.
Chaplains spend their time in class, in the playground and in extra-curricular activities being with students and being involved in what is going on at the school. Chaplains also prepare and run programs for the benefit of the school community.
At this present time there is a chaplaincy vacancy at our school - if you are interested, please apply through Scripture Union Queensland.
