Mount Morgan Central State School

Principal's Welcome

It is great to be once again part of the Mount Morgan Primary School in 2011. This is indeed a great school! The staff are amazing, students phenomenal, and parent support exceptional. It is a privilege to be part of the team here. School

Staff have been busy refining our key priorities for the year ahead. The importance of having a clear vision is immense and is part of ensuring we provide the best possible learning opportunities and results for our students.  Our focus areas are:

  • Provision of (and maintaining) a Safe and
  • Supportive School Learning Environment.
  • Ongoing development of Teacher Strategies (Pedagogy)
  • The Teaching and Learning of Reading
  • Using School Data (results) to inform planning and respond to individual student needs
  • Pre-Pre Community Partnerships.

Underpinning all that we do is our commitment to the mantra of Every Child Learning Every Day.  It is essential that we as a school continue to make sure quality teaching and learning occurs every session of the school day. I commend highly the staff of this school who ensure that our students are provided with the very best opportunities. We are excited to partner with a highly supportive parent body and greatly appreciate their endeavours.

This year we extend a special welcome to Mrs Elisabeth Bull who joins our teaching team.  Mrs Bull brings with her much classroom and ICT experience with the upper primary and lower secondary school. We are also thrilled to welcome back Mrs Marilyn Peterson. Mrs Peterson is a highly valued and highly experienced staff member and we are all the richer for having her re-join us this year. We also are excited to welcome back Mrs Dawn Lennox, Mrs Emma Thomas, Miss Leisa Tennant and Miss Kate Bass who are continuing contracts this year. The enthusiasm these four bring to our staff is contagious and we greatly look forward to working with them again in 2011.

Ms Col Hehir re-joins our team after a period of maternity leave. It is great to have her back in her role as Head of Curriculum.  We are also pleased to advise and congratulate two of our staff who are undertaking new roles this year. Mr Shane Robinson, while continuing as our Physical Education Specialist, joins the District’s Behaviour Management Team. This position will see Mr Robinson work across small and large schools supporting safe learning practices. We also congratulate Ms Lois Peacock who has been invited to work as part of the IESS (Indigenous Education Support) team across other schools including Lakes Creek and Mount Archer.

The recognition of the achievement of all staff by others in the district further emphasises the wonderful and effective work done at Mount Morgan Central over many years.  On behalf of school staff I wish everyone all the best for 2011.

Until next time,

Blair Harp
(Acting Principal)
